AstroCast: May 21-June 4, 2011

All times are PDT, unless stated otherwise.  Planetary positions are expressed as the degree followed by the sign.  If there is a number following the sign, it refers to the minute position in the degree of that sign.  As with an hour, there are 60 minutes in a degree.  For example, 10° Virgo 43’, means 10 degrees and 43 minutes Virgo.

Are you feeling more communicative now that the Sun has moved out of the stable Taurean space of the “strong silent type”?  The energies of the Sun in Gemini add more excitement to the atmosphere making it a bit harder to focus on one thing at a time.  Gemini must have invented multi-tasking, and perhaps talk shows.  Adding to this, the Venus/ Mars/Mercury conjunction in Taurus all making a trine to Pluto in Capricorn is still in effect.  With this powerful combination, there is a window of opportunity to transform intense thoughts and deeds born of desire.  Taurus’ natural inclination to lean towards the sensual – to hold onto that which is tangible – may find a deeper connection to the desire for stillness and peace, to be in harmony with the natural rhythms of nature.  We may be creating new works of art, beautifying our homes, opening ourselves up to deep conversations with loved ones and finding ways to heal rifts.  Or we could be turning this power train inwards to transcend into a new awareness that detangles us from old wounds and thus liberates us to move on.

On Tuesday, May 24th we have the last quarter square Moon to Sun reminding us it is time to review what was born at the last New Moon.  With Neptune conjunct the Moon and square the Sun, it will be important to be realistic about what actions have been taken and evaluate what their purpose is for.  It is time for adjustment and to look for what can be brought into the next cycle, or left behind.  The Venus/Mars conjunction in Taurus is still in effect as well bringing relationships to the forefront, or the desire for them.  Additionally the Sun is sextile Uranus allowing a sense of detachment to the outcome as well as an appreciation for the uniqueness each of us brings to the table.

On Wednesday, June 1st, we have the first of three eclipses that will occur within a month.  This one is a New Moon Solar eclipse at 11° Gemini.  According to Dane Rudhyar, “Gemini is the Gate which leads to the temple of human fulfillment.”  Since eclipses themselves offer portals to awareness, this is a good time to see where you stand in relation to that Gate.  Are you at the threshold?  What do you think about when you are at the Gate?  We can use this time to break loose any inertia we are experiencing.  We can make the decision to simply let something happen.  With this New Moon trine Saturn in Libra what could be set in motion will be related to time and structure.  The construct that is our own sense of Self may be expanded to ensure Other is always considered when we act.  Furthering that notion, Neptune turns retrograde less than two days after the eclipse at 0° Pisces, giving energy to the dissolution of structures that don’t serve the whole of humanity.  Neptune stations in a square to Mercury sparking the imagination and depth perception.  Resist the temptation to take a stand for the Dreamers or the Realists.  Fact and fiction can co-exist at a higher level where archetypes integrate all existence with the Divine.  Neptune will be returning to Aquarius for the rest of 2011, giving us an extension of time to keep building on the strength of the collective before returning to Pisces where social movements will need the profound force of a united Global Village to create lasting change.

Also in this cycle is another major energy shift – on Saturday, June 4th, Jupiter ends the migration of the Sun, Mars, Mercury and Venus out of Aries into Taurus.  While the Sun and Mercury have already moved on to Gemini, Venus and Mars remain in Taurus for a short spell while Jupiter will remain in this fixed earth sign for about a year.  Whereas Jupiter in Aries kick-started the need to act and to formulate grand plans for something new, in Taurus, Jupiter will find endurance and the ability to ground our ideas with practicality.  While it is possible for Jupiter in Taurus to get bogged down in materialistic values, at its most evolved level Jupiter understands the deep need for balance and harmony in all Nature.

Until next time, Happy Transits!
