The New Moon cycle commences Wednesday, November 23 at 2:57 pm PST with the Sun and Moon conjunct at 1° Sagittarius. With four planets currently in Sagittarius, there is an opportunity to gain insight and derive more meaning from our experiences. Sagittarius encourages us to broaden our perspectives through travel, delving into unfamiliar topics, or higher education. A key focus here is learning, expanding, and growing both inwardly and outwardly to gain a better understanding of our life strategies and needs.

This New Moon also coincides with a Mercury/Venus conjunction at 10° Sagittarius trine Chiron at 12° Aries. Chiron’s purpose in Aries is to overcome the obstacles that keep us from being spontaneous, fiery, and alive. For personal growth to occur, it may become necessary to examine painful memories, fears, and limiting programs unconsciously controlling our lives. Chiron represents the wounded healer archetype, and its process leads us to be liberated from the pull of the past. Although we can identify with wounds because we’ve experienced them personally, the Chironic process helps us realize that wounds are an unavoidable aspect of being human. There is no need for our past to define or control us, but we need to work with and de-identify from traumas to truly move forward.

There is also a growing trine between Mars at 21° Gemini retrograding back towards Saturn at 19° Aquarius. Mars retrograde invites us to review our strategies and its trine to Saturn, exact on November 28 and in effect through mid-December, asks us to pay attention to details and work out problems gradually. When Saturn is in play, being practical and discerning is key. Moreover, the long-term square between Mars and Neptune in Pisces continuing through the first week of December indicates amplified levels of uncertainty requiring us to remain fluid and flexible. An advantage of Mars square Neptune is that it can be used to expand our imagination, while the Saturn trine allows us to determine whether our vision can be manifested through practical application.
The New Moon cycle commences with a powerful booster from Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius and therefore governs the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus as they traverse its domain. Jupiter stations direct at 28° Pisces in a tight trine to the New Moon within minutes of the Sun/Moon conjunction becoming exact. Jupiter’s expansive quality is greatly intensified as it stations, infusing the new lunar cycle with a fiery, adventurous quality that could affect our ability to stay grounded in reality as we reach for the moon, the stars or anything else that suddenly feels within the realm of possibility. It could also correlate to an experience of not being able to contain whatever feelings we are having. Excess and exaggeration are as likely as a heart bursting with joy, or a connection with Love so strong, even if just for a moment, we feel its healing force could transform our trauma into our superpower.

Harnessing the potent energy of this lunation to propel us towards the life we are meant to live will take conscious effort to let go of our identifications with painful memories. As Jupiter moves forward through the last degrees of Pisces, we have an opportunity to face our internal battles with courage. Doing so opens us to the healing force of Love and compassion that can then carry us through the process of taking the golden essence of that which we learned from our experiences and apply a new sense of knowingness to the next level of our growth.
