After three weeks of probing through Scorpio’s realm in the deeper, darker reaches of the psyche, Mercury shifts into Sagittarius on October 30. In the sign of the Archer pointing his philosophical arrow to the heavens, Mercury seeks the broadest perspective possible by adventuring into unfamiliar territory for new information and ideas. Mercury in Sagittarius, the sign that teaches us the art of living together, beckons us to experience the abundance of life’s opportunities as a way to gain holographic vision and wisdom informed by diversity and inclusion. It seeks connections with our comrades in humanity through hearing their unique stories. Under this signature, we may be drawn to tales of exploration and discovery and in the process more fully understand our role as a member of society.

At the 0°cusp of Scorpio, retrograde Venus moves into an opposition to retrograde Uranus at 0°Taurus on October 31. This marks the midpoint of the annual Venus/Uranus cycle, which commenced at their conjunction on March 28, 2018 at 27°Aries. Due to the Venus retrograde, there will be three exact oppositions between Venus and Uranus – the first was on September 12 at 2°Scorpio/Taurus when Venus was direct, the second this week and the third on November 30 at 29°Libra/Aries when Venus is direct again. Using wide orbs, Venus began opposing Uranus about mid-October and will remain in orb through mid-December. Two months of this polarizing alignment between the planet of relationships and the planet of disruption can lead to some dramatic shifts in our interactions with others. What may appear to be sudden or unexpected changes in the status of relationships may happen but if we are paying close attention, we will see the momentum for them building and can make choices that can help stabilize the transition. Under this signature, we may rebel against others because we feel undervalued or perhaps unworthy. Any problems that have been ignored or are at an impasse may reach a moment of truth. If we are holding on too tightly to an image of what we want to attract in our life we may recognize it now as being myopic and not serving our true needs or those of others. Uranus calls us to awaken to the conditioning that inhibits freedom of expression. If we seize this moment and dare to reveal the truth of our feelings, then a process of integration can begin. When all parties make an effort to invoke unconditional love, issues can be discussed with a sense that grace is guiding us. That creates safe space for agreements to be made to rectify imbalances, take new directions, or change tired routines for the benefit of all.

Just hours after the Venus/Uranus energy begins to release on October 31, Venus backs into Libra where it will remain until December 2. Still influenced by unconventional Uranian instincts, Venus in its home sign will nonetheless be most concerned with finding ease in relating to others. Just barely into the new 19-month Venus cycle that commenced with its Inferior Conjunction to the Sun on October 26, its call to be more at ease is archetypally tied to how comfortable we can be in expressing freely and allowing others to do so as well. Finding balance and harmony in our interactions doesn’t mean giving up our right to be who we are. It does require taking a firm stand in our own uniqueness. This is essential on the path of total relatedness. Being real and being considerate of others is not mutually exclusive. We don’t have to sacrifice our truth in order to live peaceful lives. It does require all parties involved to be committed to this way of being and we need to remain vigilant when dealing with others who act selfishly. The more at ease we are in total relatedness, the more we will attract others who are as well and ultimately find ourselves surrounded by love.

On November 5, the Sun in Scorpio forms a trine with Neptune in Pisces, a transit that may add a mystical quality to the atmosphere and a sense of being led throughout the day by a force greater than ourselves. The trine is an easy aspect that doesn’t generally correlate to any strong movements or need to release tension, but it can facilitate the expression of the archetypes involved. As the center of our solar system representing our will and purpose, the Sun in Scorpio is intense and probing as it delves into the mysteries of life seeking to tap into its source of power. As a transcendent outer planet, Neptune in Pisces calls us to experience universal consciousness as love. Under the combined nature of these archetypes, power and love are synonymous as are the mysterious and mystical qualities of life. Profound understanding and connection to all existence is possible once we become masters of the magical talents inherent within each and every one of us.
