The Exciting Aries Month of April

Aries God

Over the past few weeks, the Sun and Venus, Mars and Uranus have been dancing in the sign of Aries. It started in the early degrees of Aries and is continuing right into today. But, it not only doesn’t end, it actually gets stronger with the New Moon on April 10, 2013 at 2:35am PDT. This New Moon will have the Sun/Moon conjunction (20° Aries) in very tight aspect to Mars and Venus.

Aries is the sign of the pioneer, the holder of an exciting new seed of a possible future that Aries can sense, but perhaps only vaguely. That ‘vagueness’ doesn’t bother Aries. Just to feel or sense it is enough. This is the sign that feels “I must do it and I must do it now.” If it cannot act quickly, Aries can become frustrated and that can lead to premature action that sooner or later will get Aries into trouble. With so many planets in Aries now, all of us can feel this need to act now, to push forward even if the path isn’t clear yet.

A New Moon represents the act of a new seed or cycle being born. This Moon is also called the Dark Moon because we can’t see it in the sky. But, it is also referred to as ‘Dark’ because we can’t yet see what the new cycle really looks like. It will take time before it is revealed. With this New Moon in Aries though, it makes this principle doubly strong. Aries is similar in nature to a New Moon in that it represents the power of the birth of new energy and new kinds of action. Part of the Aries nature is to have faith that one’s actions will succeed, that things will somehow work out. And, oftentimes, they really do because when we have faith in ourselves, we can find ways to succeed simply due to that faith in oneself. Anything can happen when we are willing to do whatever it takes to make it work out.

What astrology offers us though is a look at more than just the present moment. It can help us understand cycles and when we do, it can give us a broader context and understanding of both present moment as well as where things are going. An example of this is that as action oriented the next several weeks will be, it will soon be followed by a Taurus New Moon and more than that, it will be a Solar eclipse. Taurus responds to the speed, energy and desire for new beginnings by now seeking stability and steadiness. My point is that when we look at Moon cycles, it is necessary to remember that one ‘archetypal energy’ will quickly be followed by another one. We may find that suddenly the demand for action is replaced by a desire to slow down, take stock and decide on priorities. We will now see that movement for its own sake may not yield any real results. Results are what Taurus wants and needs, an energy very different from Aries. Remembering that Moon cycles move through very quickly helps us gain perspective and a broader understanding of life that keeps us balanced and centered.

Frequent Long Moon Void-of-Course Periods

We are in an unusual cycle right now. Because many planets are in the early degrees of their sign, we are experiencing very long void-of-course periods. They are lasting 24 hours or more right now. This will change soon, but here is what this period can mean for us:

  1. This is a time when decisions to act should not be made due to the fact that information may be missing.
  2. It is a good time for handling the little details of life, such as paying bills, reading a book you like, or to just play.
  3. The mind can be fuzzy or disinterested in whatever we need to do. In this case it is a good idea to note that such feelings will dissipate once the Moon enters a new sign so we don’t take them too seriously.
  4. It is to our advantage to be patient during these periods if it is at all possible so as to avoid feeling frustrated or discouraged.
  5. It can be a creative time both personally as well as in discussions we might have with others. If, however, the discussion is a serious one, it is best to review it after the Moon moves into the next sign just in case some or all of that discussion now appears to be a bit silly.

There’s always more to say, but this gives us a start.

About Jupiter

The planet of new opportunities and expansion of consciousness is picking up speed as it begins to move through Gemini on its way to the sign of Cancer which it enters on June 25, 2013. This period enhances or increases the desire to communicate with people, share knowledge and perspectives with others, and write to or connect with people. It is the joy of relating and sharing with others in an every-day way. Also, Gemini tends to be light and airy, more casual than serious, and open to diverse and interesting people, but not necessarily into deep topics, where focus and concentration is necessary.

When you combine the dominance of Aries energy that I spoke about above with the sextile to Jupiter, this period we are in right now is very social and actively seeking ways to expand our social circle and for exciting, challenging new relationships. A time for some fun, unless …..

I am referring to the fact that Saturn is in the deep sign of Scorpio which I will go into in the next newsletter article.
