All Signs Say "Go!"

When I write newsletter articles that suggest that every time period is ‘good for something,’ I know such advice is hard to hear when things aren’t going so well for us.  We don’t want to hear it.  Nevertheless, astrology reveals something interesting about each moment that goes beyond our likes and dislikes.  It tells us what is and is not possible in a specific moment.  If we learn to adapt to these forces, we may find that our life improves. Perhaps, we discover that if we can accept what is possible and not worry or fear what is not possible, our experience of life will become much better.  After all, one of the main purposes for being born on this planet is to learn.

Well, the period we are in right now is indicating a lot of progress.  What is going on is that all of the planets, except for the outer ones (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are moving in their normal direct motion.  We have had retrograde after retrograde during the last 9 months requiring that we review or test out all sorts of things.  Every aspect of our life was affected. This is the time period that I have been mentioning for months now as the time to make every effort to move forward, develop, act, progress, etc., in whatever areas of life that are opening for us.  In fact, it is possible that some of you will have more than one area opening up and that you have to decide what to focus on and what to let go of, unless you find that you really can do more than you thought possible.

Pure Progress

Actually, we are about to enter a rare period where we can move forward with confidence because Saturn is about to enter territory it will go over only once, rather than its usual three times. This period begins on October 1, 2012 and ends on November 14, 2012. It lasts for only 6 weeks or so. Let me explain as best I can. Saturn has its own cycle. It will move forward about 15-18 degrees with each cycle and then retrograde back about 7-8 degrees, after which the cycle begins again. This means that the territory that Saturn covers only once is only 5-6 degrees in area. In terms of time, the entire Saturn cycle lasts 10-11 months, out of which only 6-7 weeks in which it covers that brief period when it goes through the area only once. This is why I have named it a period of ‘”Pure Progress.”

It means that whatever one is engaged in doing will not be reviewed later. It is time where we can have some confidence that we are on the right track and have earned that since it has been prepared for by the entire Saturn cycle. You can think about it this way.

Saturn goes back and forth demanding that we not miss steps. If we do miss something, we will either have to go back and get or fix what remains or let the entire effort drop away. But the Pure Progress area is actually prepared for by all of the previous efforts during both the previous cycle as well as the present one.

I’ve tested this theory out many times because Saturn cycles bug me just as much as it may bug you. The biggest irritant is that only 15% of Saturn’s cycle can be thought of as Pure Progress. Can you see why astrologers have often described Saturn with just one word — Tester. When it comes to Saturn we are asked or demanded to have a solid foundation and footing. It asks us to become experts rather than dilettantes. One does not become an expert without being tested many times by many people or situations.

Future Articles

In the last several articles, I have been focusing on the nature of Chiron as the bridge or transition state that can take us to an understanding and ability to consciously and constructively act with the outer planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. I will be looking at the nature of how we can consciously work with these archetypal forces in a positive and evolutionary way. It is more important than ever that we learn how to do this. It’s not just important for each of us personally, although it is, but also because the more people on the planet who can evolve along the lines that these forces ask of us, the better shape the world we live in will be.

    To Diana:

Things are moving forward now. I think this will accelerate as we move into the ‘Pure Progress” period beginning in early October.

But we won’t be in this period until October 1st, right? So we have another month and a half to go? Or are you saying it’s already started but will really pick up in October? My life is expanding again (thank goodness), but it still feels like I’m trying to run through jello.

    To Janet:

I think that when Saturn enters its ‘Pure Progress’ territory that you may see everything pick up much more than right now. I hope you’ll let me know. Good luck.

I kind of agree with Kisha, I have found it the same and keep thinking Mercury must still be retrograde! I guess the weather (at least here in Britain) does not help a lot, but all the same, I still feel that the hardest work is ahead of me and is all quite slow (I do have Saturn in Capricorn though..) But nevertheless, as always, one of the best astrological articles on the web and thank you again.

Pure Progress? Hmmmm…..I have been working really hard on my projects for the past year, and I have made SOME progress, but the real work has just begun. But I feel sooooo tired. I only want to take naps at this point. I hope I get to take advantage of this short period of pure progress. Thanks for the good news, Jim.
