It is another busy week in the astral world with opportunities to mobilize alliances for the greater good and begin preparing for a new phase of transformational growth. A mini-grand trine configuration forms on September 11 with the Sun in Virgo in sextile to Jupiter in Scorpio and trine to Pluto in Capricorn. On September 12, the two powerhouse outer planets enter the closing phase of their 13-year cycle when they form the last of three sextiles unfolding over this year. Mercury in Virgo then follows the Sun forming the same aspects to the Jupiter/Pluto alignment September 15-16. This four-planet configuration may not have as much tension as a square or opposition, but it does have a stimulating effect that is more likely to coax us with a sense of enthusiasm and resilience than to prod us into action.

Jupiter is in Scorpio, the sign ruled by Pluto, so this aspect has an amplified Plutonic force. Pluto represents authenticity and operates most powerfully when it touches the often hidden depths of our psyche. For those of us on the path of awareness, Pluto will work to reveal that which needs to be transformed so we can become who we truly are. Jupiter represents truth and the search for wisdom. Its expansive nature consistently brings opportunities to learn and grow which in turn generates tremendous faith that all will work out. Whereas Pluto in Capricorn focuses on integrity and realism in the structures of society, Jupiter in Scorpio focuses on authentic relating as the singular requirement to make our relationships functional and real to us. The Sun archetypally represents the will to embrace Jupiter’s vision of what we can be and Pluto’s empowering force to effect needed change. The Sun also infuses the process with a sense of purpose that is in service to something greater than oneself. The Jupiter/Pluto influence on Mercury, which is strong in the sign it rules, opens our mind to inquire philosophically about what is happening to discover new information that can bring clarity.

This last phase of the Jupiter/Pluto cycle is a time when we look back on what has transpired during the cycle that began with the last conjunction in 2007. There may already be a sense something is coming to a close or is ready to die, which is creating a need to make choices about what is essential to let go of or to take forward into the next cycle which begins with the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in 2020. Over the next two years, we may come to realize that we can’t live with inauthenticity anymore. It may come in one of those moments where such a depth of clarity is reached that once seemingly impossible changes we desire, now seem entirely doable. That moment may not happen with this sextile, but what could happen in a moment of contemplation is to receive a vision of this profound shift happening. We can then move forward on the promise of that until the time is right to take a leap of faith.

An opposition between Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus on September 12 brings an unpredictable quality that may disrupt the more stable alignments of the week. Uranus, the planet that represents individual expression and innovation, can be a powerful breakthrough force. It is in the sign ruled by Venus, the planet of relating and values, and their polarizing alignment could bring surprising developments in personal or professional relationships, but also in groups that have coalesced for a cause. In Scorpio, Venus looks for passion and loyalty in relationships and places a high value in immersive experiences with others. The challenge is to maintain non-identification during these experiences – to be the flame of passion while also maintaining some distance as the keeper of the flame so it won’t burn out.

In Taurus, Uranus may bring about experiences that call out our attachment to whatever we value most. Uranus alignments can bring declarations of independence from whatever is perceived as restricting and that includes attachments to relationships or things that are mere stand-ins for love. Uranus’ alignment with Venus, which will occur three times between now and November due to the upcoming Venus retrograde could correspond to breakups, but especially in the case of a group, it could also correlate to a charge to take action against something perceived as a threat to our collective future. A further stabilizing energy comes also on September 12 as Venus forms a sextile with Saturn, which is strong its home sign of Capricorn. This aspect may counterbalance any shocks from the Venus/Uranus opposition with a sense they are necessary and that we simply need to handle them with mature and realistic approach. Venus and Uranus will have three exact oppositions over the next couple of months due to the upcoming Venus retrograde so anything that transpires now will likely need to be reviewed and recalibrated during the retrograde period.
