astrocast-headerThe winds of change are upon us this week with a multilayered planetary archetypal saga unfolding that exposes a basic need to pay more attention in each moment with holistic awareness of the impact each choice makes on others and ourselves. Mercury, the messenger of the Gods, forms a foretelling square to visionary, Jupiter, on February 13 that sets up this issue in such a big way it will be hard to ignore. In Aquarius, Mercury is in the outpost of the future scouting out the trajectory of our collective path. Jupiter in Scorpio reveals the unexplored depths of experience awaiting our willingness to face the demons as well as the mind-blowing divine forces we would find in a state of total immersion. The square alignment demands a release of energy that can be used to manifest needed change. With the planet that rules how we communicate that which we perceive and the planet of philosophy and wisdom, this alignment can correlate to lots of talking about life’s big questions and an examination of our preciously held beliefs in these areas.

The change winds gather force when the Sun and Mercury, now travelling in conjunction, form a sextile to Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, February 13 and 15 respectively. Uranus is the agent of Aquarius awakening the unique individual within as it travels around the zodiac. Motivated by change that moves us into a future that serves all humanity, Uranus often delivers shocks to varying degrees depending on the level of our somnambulism. In pioneering Aries, Uranus propels us to move beyond self-centeredness and envision a more inclusive way of being. The Sun rules the heart, which represents the very core of what brings us to life. If we are not creating our life with love and joy, then we’re not living. Mercury is the voice of the heart. If we are not expressing our truth, we’re not communicating in a way that truly connects us to other. The Sun/Mercury sextile to Uranus pulls in a welcome assist to express from our unique heart with flashes of brilliance.

The full force whirlwind arrives when the Moon conjuncts the Sun in Aquarius on February 15, a potent New Moon Solar Eclipse that heralds a game changing new cycle. Under this influence the perception of time can feel upended because velocity is increased. Events can unfold at an unexpected pace that can dramatically interrupt a deep-rooted pattern of being. When we catch a glimpse of our soul’s purpose line we become highly motivated to recalibrate our choices to align with it and this correlates to becoming more mature in how we handle life. Eclipses can represent a leap of evolution that takes us to a new level. At this formidable moment, we may recognize where we resist letting go of the past holding dearly onto faded memories or stubbornly atrophy in comfort ruts. Anywhere there is a block we’re sure to see it in the eclipse zone. The new information travelling on these winds of change that will take us into a better future may not be readily understandable but the message of this particular eclipse, which is 1 South of the Saros cycles, instills a sense of trust in the suddenness of impulses coming from deep within: “This family of eclipses is concerned with ideas and their enthusiastic expression. If this eclipse affects your chart, you will be flooded with ideas or options. There may seem to be an element of haste, but if you can go with the new ideas, they will have positive outcomes.” (Bernadette Brady)

Other aspects in play in the Eclipse chart adds layers of archetypal forces that will extend into the new cycle: Venus in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn shortly after the Eclipse peaks on February 15 acts as a stabilizing force that promotes collaboration with others in the implementation of the new ideas. There is power in numbers when each person recognizes and accepts their responsibilities without need of approval and fulfills them with gladness and grace. Mars in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces, exact on February 17, presents another challenge to recognize when our actions are motivated by ego rather than the greater good. When our need to act is infused with spiritual intent we can more easily dance through life. Also on February 17 Mercury in Aquarius progresses from its close conjunction to the livewire Aquarian Solar Eclipse into the Superior Conjunction with the Sun at the urgent finishing degree of Aquarius. This culminating moment in the Sun/Mercury cycle brings tremendous clarity and mental velocity that can help us grasp the importance of letting go of old ideas that no longer serve in order to create greater attention bandwidth to manifest the new ideas.

Just as these game-changing new ideas come into our awareness, Mercury and the Sun enter Pisces on February 17 and February 18 respectively. Mutable Pisces is the last sign of zodiac that represents the transition space between the end of a cycle and the need to prepare for a new one. Before we can fully move into a new cycle, we need to develop the Piscean courage to let go of all that has happened in the past and our ego identifications with it so true growth can occur. Living in a constant state of flux, Pisces asks us to take only the seed essence of what we have learned from the all the frustrations and pains of the past as well as the achievements, not the experiences in whole that can crystalize into conditioned patterns. Part of the learning process is to endure repeating life lessons over and over until they are holistically learned, without shutting down when the going gets tough. Each time we stay in courage and say, “I can do this,” it has a subtle ripple effect that affects everyone. We might as well show up now, because the same demands will come again and again. This process does get easier, and more magical.

Dance, when you’re broken open.

Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off.

Dance in the middle of the fighting.

Dance in your blood.

Dance, when you’re perfectly free.
