As we look ahead at March we have three planets, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter all changing directions in the first six days. The good news may be that otherwise, the planets are relatively quiet, at least for the first half of the month. The old saying goes “If March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb.” We shall see. For most people in the US (Eastern, Central and Mountain Time zones) we start the month off with the first of two New Moons.
Remember, just because the planets are talking or playing (aspecting) each other, doesn’t mean they aren’t active (talking, playing, twerking) with your chart.
03/01/14 – 12:59 am MST, 1:59 am CST, 2:59 am EST – New Moon conjunct Sun 10 Pisces 39
It is a Pisces New Moon. For most of the US, this will be on March 1, meaning they had no new Moon in February. A rare but not a bad or ominous happening. New Moon’s mark new beginnings. This is the wee hours of Saturday morning so it is a good time for a special ritual. Do it before you go out or after you come home. You have time on either side of the conjunction to work “your magic.”
03/01/14 – 8:24 am – Mars 27 Libra 32 Stations Retrograde
Mars goes retrograde less frequently than any other planet. If we consider a planets cycle as going from the date it stations retrograde until the date it stations retrograde again; that is through the retrograde period and the subsequent period of direct motion, then Mars goes less often or has the longest cycle of any of the planets, lasting 25-27 months. Mars will spend an average of about 1 ½ to 2 months in each sign, except when He goes retrograde; then He can spend 6-7 months in that sign. That can tend to make each Mars retrograde a bit more special. Mars entered Libra December 7, 2013 and will spend 7 ½ months in Libra before moving into Scorpio on July 25, 2014. Mars will be retrograde until May 19, 2014 traveling back to 9 Libra 01. That means anyone with planets in 9-27 Libra or any of the other cardinal signs may be in for a bit of a bumpy Martian Rover ride.
03/02/14 – 8:19 am – Saturn 23 Scorpio 19 Stations Retrograde
Compared to Mars, Saturn goes retrograde every year and has a cycle that lasts about 54 weeks. This retrograde will last until July 20, 2014. Saturn will retrace his steps back to 16 Scorpio 39 by then giving us all more than enough time to re-consider, re-assess, re-view and yes, even re-gret some of our previous actions.
03/02/14 – 12:04 pm – Venus 27 Capricorn 31 Squares Retrograde Mars 27 Libra 31
This is the third and final first quarter crisis of action square between these two. This Venus Mars cycle began with their conjunction April 6, 2013 at 19 Aries 58. Their first, first quarter crisis of action square occurred September 28, 2013 with Venus 19 Scorpio 46 and Mars 19 Leo 46 and their second first quarter square was on January 16, 2014 with Venus 18 Capricorn 06 and Mars 18 Libra 06. Venus is nearing the end of Her shadow and is preparing to finish Her work in Capricorn. In just over two months, May 13, 2014 we will have Venus 9 Aries 30 opposing retrograde Mars 9 Libra 30; representing the “full Moon” harvest phase of this cycle for these two. Time to start considering what “seeds” were planted around the time of the conjunction April 6, 2013 and might be ready to harvest around the time of the May 13 opposition.
03/04/14 – 9:31 am – Venus 29 Capricorn 03 goes Void-of-Course
Following a first quarter crisis of action square by the Moon, Venus goes void-of-course for the next 27 ½ hours allowing Her to complete Her Capricorn work with relatively few impediments.
03/05/14 – 1:03 pm – Venus enters Aquarius
Venus entered Capricorn on November 5, 2013; and finally, after four months She completes Her tasks and enters Aquarius. Can you feel it? Perhaps not since neither Capricorn (Cardinal Earth) nor Aquarius (Fixed Air) are known for their “feeling” qualities. You may start to notice a shift in what attracts you or what takes on increased importance in your life around this time.
03/06/14 – 2:42 am – Jupiter 10 Cancer 26 Stations Direct
After four months retrograde, Jupiter is ready to move forward. Jupiter is the greater benefic and so, even though Mars and Saturn are now retrograde, this may allow some things to begin moving forward. Jupiter will now plow on through Cancer into Leo before His next retrograde. Try to take advantage of the opportunities that are presented now.
03/08/14 – 5:27 am – Moon 17 Gemini 54 Square Sun 17 Pisces 54
This is the first quarter crisis of action square in this Sun Moon cycle. Moon in Gemini enjoys conversation; doesn’t need to be “good” or “meaningful” conversation, any conversation may do. Think short Mercury retrograde so remember to try and engage the brain before engaging the mouth.
03/09/14 – 2:00 am – Daylight Savings Time begins
This is when we “spring” forward, setting our clocks ahead one hour. This Sunday is a “23 hour” day so try to make the most of it.
03/10/14 – 11:14 pm – Mercury 23 Aquarius 15 Square Retrograde Saturn 23 Scorpio 15
This is the third and final first quarter square between these two. Their cycle began with three conjunctions, October 8, October 29 and November 25, 2013 at 10 to 16 degrees Scorpio. The two prior first quarter crisis of action squares occurred January 25, 2014 and February 18, 2014. All three of these squares occur with Mercury at 22-23 Aquarius and Saturn at 22-23 Scorpio. Saturn demands truth, honesty and sincerity so whatever you say, however you say it, choose your words carefully or most assuredly Saturn will have His way when He returns to this spot latter this year.
03/11/14 – 12:50 pm – Moon 26 Cancer 53 goes Void-of-Course
This is a relatively short void-of-course, just over 8 hours, but it does cover most of the afternoon at work so try to avoid making major decisions unless you must. If you must, be sure to check and recheck all the details, the fine print and be sure you can “live with it.”
03/14/14 – 9:17 am – Mercury 26 Aquarius 28 goes Void-of-Course
There is another shift coming as Mercury prepares to bid adieu to fixed air Aquarius and say hello to mutable water Pisces. This is a good time to go over any details, to allow your mind to focus on what-ever task is at hand. Trying to write the next “great American novel” or just get “it” down on paper? With Mercury not making any more major aspects to the other planets for the next couple of days, now is a good time to focus your mind, your mental faculties on whatever the major tasks at hand are.
